Africa Fashion Week Melbourne 2013

afwm

Otino International is thrilled to present the launch of Australia’s very first Africa Fashion Week in Melbourne (AFWM) with an event set to wow those that adore fashion. The awe-inspiring works of African and African-inspired designers will feature on a runway hosted by Founder/Director of Otino International and former Miss Uganda-USA, Imat Akelo-Opio.

Fashion Designers featured on the night:

  1. Patriciah Apio (Ledy, Brisbane designer)

  2. Giudo – (Melko – Collins St, Melbourne designer)

  3. Francis Kwamee (Kwamee by Francis, Melbourne designer)

  4. Peterson Opio (Otim Ajalia, Cairns designer)

  5. Shekudo (Amy and Shetu, Sydney designers)

  6. Wanyika (Wa-Nyika Sydney designer)

Guest will experience:

  1. Unique and energetic display of fashion

  2. Complimentary food and beverages on the night, with a licensed bar for the purchase of alcohol, and bags of goodies put together by the staff at Otino.

Mission:

  1. All proceeds raised through the event go to Otino International and their Immunization for Life program in Northern Uganda. The program facilitates a mobile medical unit that travels throughout the region immunizing those that otherwise would not have access to healthcare against deadly diseases. This part of the world is rebuilding following civil conflict and the presence of Joseph Kony’s Lords’ Resistance Army. Basic healthcare provides the foundation for these communities.

Otino hopes that this event is the first of many as part of an annual Africa Fashion Week in Melbourne.
