I love checking out backstage images and videos from runway shows. It’s all to do with the detail you get to see in the garments which you don’t get to see up-close on the runway, the mayhem which goes on trying to make sure everything is on schedule, wardrobe malfunctions, the models in their true element mingling or on their phones posting cray-cray Instagram images, hair and make-up artists transforming models into walking art pieces. It’s interesting how all this goes down for just a 10-30 minute show.
This week marks the start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa – 20 runway shows from 30 designers from 15 countries around the continent. We have been fortunate enough to be given backstage access to some of the shows courtesy of fashion aficionado/photographer Chloe Holloway of CocotheBlog.com. Chloe is capturing every angle from behind the curtain for Afroklectic!
Our first backstage pass was to the Laurence Airline show. If Laurence Airline was a boy, I think I would have a crush on him! Quirky, simple and oh so stylish!
