The African Film Festival Australia is pleased to present the launch of the Music is the Weapon spring and summer series in Melbourne city.
Music is the Weapon explores the cinematic and music culture of the African continent by looking at the contributions made by various African artists in West, East, North, South and Central Africa.
Each session will focus on the art, music and cinema of a different region. In October we launch with West Africa / Gold Coast edition by screening the cult classic Fela Kuti Documentary MUSIC IS THE WEAPON. The classic doco gives audiences an insight into one of the most outspoken, politically aware and eclectic Father of Afrobeat Fela.
We will also be screening short film and music videos from various West African nations. Sweeeeet!
