Summertime with Kirrily Johnston

Australian designer Kirrily Johnston has taken a bold step in Australian fashion. For her SS 11/12 kj by Kirrily Johnston collection, she has used black models for her campaign images.

I don’t think I have ever seen even one black model being used solely for a fashion campaign like this.

It is a breath of fresh air to see this! I was drooling at the sight of these images. I amazed that I was seeing these two models and I was admiring the appeal of the images.

Chasing Bow notes that kj by Kirrily Johnston closes the gap between high fashion and casual street style. The collection contains essential wardrobe pieces and a reinvention with Kirrily’s volume draping and detail. Each piece is designed to be worn layered, styled or simply just thrown.

I have always known Kirrily‘s work to be mostly free-flowing with a focus on draping in subdue tones made of the finest quality, often with a splash of bright colour in a few pieces. But I think this collection, defines what the 2011-2012 Australian summer will be like!!! NICE AND WARM by THE SEA!!!

The bursts of red and orange representing the hot Australian sun. The blues and stripes, a symbol of our beaches and white representing the freshness of the summer breeze. I think Summer 11/12 is the time to sit back and unwind with kj by Kirrily Johnston.
