Afro-Creative: Bridget Awosika

So ladies…. If you are looking for sharp silhouettes, block colour and staple pieces, you don’t have to look any longer when you see the work of Bridget Awosika! Vogue.it describes the work of Bridget as The very cool arrival of a serene but invigorating glacial breeze.

With that kind of description, you surely can’t bypass this collection!

Bridget was born in Washington DC to Nigerian parents. She has a a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Howard University and a degree in Fashion Design from the Parsons School of Design in New York. Before starting her own label, Bridget worked with top end fashion labels such as Donna Karan and Giorgio Armani.

She notes her 2011 collection as a reflection of  ‘innocence, growth, beauty, healing, new beginnings, cycles, exploring relationships, a woman’s stance in life, and Nigeria’.

The collection is experimental, constructive and bold. I love the emergence of colour partnered with basic black, simple with cutting edge shapes, bold yet feminine.
