Poema Jones is accessory designer who makes things of all sorts like rasta hats (because she LOVES big crochet hats), earrings, clutches, scarfs, rings in bold and vibrant hues. She currently resides in Amsterdam, and is an amazing mix of Suriname (South America), African and Indonesian.
Creativity appears to be hereditary in her family. Her mother, a teacher and fashion designer taught Poema and her three siblings how to make there own clothes at a young age. Now, her older sister is a clothing designer, her young sister designs children tutus and outfits which her brother is a sculptor.
Poema credits her inspiration from the reggae music her father used to play when she as growing up. The genre’s musical artists’ combination of different styles made them outcasts in their time, yet made them unique individuals.
I really admire Poema‘s sense of style!!! I have spent hours looking at images of her on her tumblr site in funky outfits. She says Europe has certainly influenced her style, but her Mum’s West African dressing, her Grandmother’s proper old lady style and a trip to Ethiopia have helped her develop a unique and electric sense of style.
For Poema’s amazing designs check out the POEMA JONES WEBSHOP and while you’re there, make sure you check out Poema’s tumblr POEMA JONES.
