Asos Africa III

Sampling a colour palette of rich tones, softened with neutral shades, ASOS AFRICA brings forth a sophisticated collection of cool, laidback pieces. Using hand-woven fabric, produced exclusively for ASOS AFRICA in Mombasa, the collection features a mix of elegant separates and playful feminine pieces, shot through with vibrant Kitenge prints from Tanzania. The collection is complimented by a unique range of accessories from fair trade jewellery brand MADE. Continuing the collaboration with SOKO, Bedi and the Crochet Sisters, our ASOS AFRICA collection maintains its dedication to providing vital employment to underprivileged communities in Kenya. For every item sold in the collection, ASOS AFRICA will donate £5 towards SOKO building a new workshop.

I love this collection. It is a breath of fresh air! Quite minimal. yet sophisticated, with a chill out look and a great colour palette of natural tones. It is a lot more versatile than ASOS’ last two African collections. I think that we big a selling point. As much as I think that African prints are beautiful, sometimes it does seem like visual overload which makes it hard for everyone to be daring enough to wear it!

I have walked through shopping centres on a few occasions after church with my mum or by myself and received lovely comments from strangers about my outfit and then they add ‘Oh I could never wear that. Too many colors and patterns for me!’.

I think this collection is ‘Africany’ because of it’s origins, but not too ‘Africany’ by it’s looks which makes it easy to wear.
