Darkie is a South African label launched in 2002 by Themba Mngomezulu a drop out B-Comm student who got into fashion through his mother who sold used clothing. The Darkie label fuses style and culture and prides on originality, innovation and quality.
The Darkie brand lives and breathes street fashion and the South African township culture. The brand identifies itself with Africa’s most notable icons, the Afro-Comb. This symbolizes the pride they feel being Africans, which enables them to provide their customers and clients with products that is truly African, truly Darkie.
From the few images I have seen, Darkie is fresh, urbanized and a true reflection of South Africa’s funky street style!
