dazed about SA

I finally got my hands on the Dazed & Confused June 2010 issue with the 32-page South Africa Youth Special. In 2004, Dazed & Confused devoted an entire issue to celebrate ten years of freedom in South Africa since the end of apartheid. Six years on, South Africa has just hosted the 2010 FIFA World Cup!!!

Dazed & Confused went back  to South Africa before the World Cup to to see what has changed their 2004 issue on the country.

The culture of South Africa is certainly different. The post-apartheid generation is creating a new buzz and vibe in South Africa. Most of them didn’t live through apartheid, or were too young to remember. They know of the struggle, but live as a free agents of the struggle. From what I have read, it’s like apartheid was their parents went through. And now it is time for this new generation to create a new history, a history in the new South Africa. A history with a free South Africa!!! Every motion by this new generation seems to be an example of their freedom – their dancing, their style, their music, their art, their views on politics and the new South Africa. It is quite amazing!
