A box of chocolates by the name of ‘Ghana’ made in Japan.
I think this is is slightly odd!
My friend had them with her while we were at Uni on Tuesday. We starting investigating the name. The body copy is all in Japanese. Luckily my friend can read Japanese. She said there was nothing in the body copy which made reference to Ghana. I thought maybe the coco was from Ghana, but there is no evidence to suggest that.
My friend said Japanese have an obsession with things foreign and often use it to name items. So maybe that’s why the chocolates are called Ghana. Who knows?
I started searching for other ‘Ghana’ chocolates. There is dark chocolate by the name of ‘Dark Ghana’. I have seen it here in the shops. And I know my Dad has purchased it before because of the name.
It’s made in New Zealand but it’s said to be made from the finest of Ghanaian cocoa beans. I think the New Zealand chocolate’s name has relevance. As for the Japanese one, that is a different story.
