I immediately fell in love with the label House of Versatile Styles after reading a post on Africa Style Daily written by Mazuba Kapambwe. House of Versatile Styles is an exquisite label by American born Nigerian Bukola Are. Born in America, Bukola moved to Nigeria where she attended high school and returned to the US to attend College. She dedicated her time to learning the ropes on the fashion industry by linking up with international and national design companies, until finally she took a leap and started her own label.
“I started designing this collection October of 2009, I had no concept in the beginning but as time progressed I realized that the only word I could use to define this collection was Timeless”
– Bukola Are (CIAAFRIQUE)
Bukola’s label lives up to it’s name of versatility with a collection of clothing, swimwear and accessories. I am SO in love with the hair and jewellery pieces made from batik fabrics. They have a sculptural extravagant appeal to them. It would turn an outfit into a piece of art! Bukola’s pieces are a product of her travelling experiences about the globe. A lot of the pieces in the current collection include West African fabrics with American and European touches.
Absolutely Superb!
