Last year, I told you about Liz Cambage − Australia’s rising star and if she helps get the Australian women’s basketball team on the podium at the London Olympics, I won’t be surprised. Well the African-Australian is certainly living up to what I wrote!
Whilst playing for the Australian Opals against Russia for a spot in the Olympic quarter final, Cambage slam dunked. Six minutes before the end of the third quarter she made her move, making her the first woman to ever slam dunk in an Olympic women’s basketball game. There is no official record of a slam dunk in any women’s basketball game, but there is a huge buzz that Cambage is officially the first! The Opals went on to claim their spot in the quarter-finals with a 70-66 win.
