British Print Designer and Fashion writer Charlotte Linton opens us to colonial exploration, antique imagery of naturalists, archive papers held at the London Zoological Society and Hergé’s The Adventures of Tin Tin through her line of scarves known as The Charlotte Linton Collection. The scarves are inspired by Linton’s fictional muse – Ermantrude, a zoologist travelling the world in the early part of the 20th century. The scarves evolve around Ermantrude’s electric wardrobe and travel experiences. Linton‘s Spring/Summer 2011 collection are visual prints of Ermantrude’s expedition to Madagascar. The prints are inspired by the coral-like plat life of the island’s spiny forests, unique flora and fauna, riches in natural minerals and Ermantraude’s passion for anthropology and archaeology.
The collection features four wool and four silk scarves, allowing versatility throughout the seasons whilst adding vibrancy to an outfit.
The richness of this collection makes me want to go to Madagascar!
