Whilst traveling around in Europe, I was amazed by diversity of street art. It would pop up in every little street. There is something about street art and in particular public performance art that can captivate hordes of busy disinterested street dwellers. Spontaneous street art in Sydney can be a rare thing to find with city councils religiously painting over public art as if their lives depended on it.
Robin Rhode is a South African artist based in Berlin whose public art hijacks public spaces and forces you to re-examine ordinary street life. Born in Cape Town, Rhode‘s work turns flat uninspiring objects into three dimensional narratives.
