When I was in my final year of high school, for my Design & Technology major project, I wanted to make a bean bag using African fabric. My Mum said the fabric wouldn’t old for long. I was quite disappointed that my idea wouldn’t be ergonomically friendly. So I gave up on trying to make the idea work. But I would constantly think about it.
Now I have seen the answer to a piece of furniture which is far more ergonomically friendly than a bean bag. Designed by Michiel van der Kley for Artifort this innovative pieces is known as the ‘Swamp Chair‘. It is said to be a “comfortable upholstered lounge chair whose seat and back rest seem to sink away into the depths. Sinking into the Swamp feels like disappearing in a warm embrace. (The chair has) advantages of spiral springs and foam to achieve the optimum result”.
The new African Swamp collection is upholstered in African fabric with a contrasting block colour.
It would be a great piece of furniture to have!
I like and I want!
