book it

I am currently studying Graphic Design as part of a student exchange program in London. It’s already been two months and I haven’t showed any inkling that I am even studying here. I decided to post up some of my latest work.

As part of a bookbinding workshop session this week, we made books. Yes, we made books. I mean sewing the pages together, making a hard cover and then gluing the pieces to form a hardcover notebook. When I first signed up for the workshop, I even questioned the end result. I thought there was no possible way we could individually make a hard bound book. I knew that we would end up with some sort of book, just not as refined as what we actually ended up with!

For the cover, I used a ZARA shopping bag and for the pages, a mixture of brown paper, lined paper, plain paper and pages of the the current TOPSHOP AW10 catalogue.

This took literally all day to do. It’s quite fiddly, yet very rewarding.

I enjoyed it so much that, I am considering starting a line of notepads one day.
