maasai postcard art

“During my summer holiday in Kenya I went to the Masai market in Nairobi (as most tourists do). I bought these postcards depicting the Masai tribe in their daily doings. To make the postcards more authentic and interesting they glued traditional Shuka fabrics to it. Shukas are worn by male Masai warriors of pretty much all ages and are usually red. “ Submitted by Ron on Creative Roots.

These beautiful cards illustrate the nomadic and traditional lifestyle of the Maasai people through simple illustrative lines. For example you can tell that the Masai people have a some sort of a relationship with animals, from the walking sticks in the first image, you get the idea that they walk often, and the spears are of course is a sign of hunting.
