I’m a little behind the eight ball in that I’ve only now come upon the work of Ruud Van Empel. The Dutch artist creates an image which commands reaction, you either love his work or hate it. I was drawn, while my sister, viewing the images with me found them confronting and ‘a bit scary.’
The work of Ruud Van Empel has evoked vehement reactions. His images confuse people. A much-heard response is that people don’t know what they are looking at.
This statement by Maartje van den Heuvel couldn’t be truer! He seems to include a composition of real photographs with photoshopped faces and backgrounds.
