I am just letting you know that I might be a bit scarce with posts for the next couple of months. I am currently working on my final major project.
Four years of Uni, about a year of working in the industry and about a year worth of travel, I have finally arrived to this point! When I started Uni, in 2007, I knew that I wanted to work with something evolving around my culture. I just didn’t know this would be it!
As mentioned in Identity Battle (23.07.2011) for my major project, I am working on transforming this blog into a hub – A creative online space for collaboration and promotion of creative Africans in Africa, and the diaspora, with a strong focus on creative people of Afro-Australian descent!
In the four years I have been at Uni, Afroklectic is the only project I have been able to continually devote all my creative energy and effort into, outside of my hectic Uni schedule. It is also the one thing I have been able to do without worrying about the marks or feedback I would get. And now I am making this passion project subject to my fears. I am very nervous, but at the same time very excited about the process and the possible outcome.
I will try to post regularly, but if I am not around for a few days or even a week, you know why!
You can follow my process at gilleanopoku.tumblr.com. I look forward to unveiling the new Afroklectic to you in early November (hopefully)!!!! Watch this space for updates on the date of release for the new space!!!
This is just a photo of a space I set up in my living room this week. I call it, ‘my inspiration corner’.
